Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) has successfully completed the first robotic surgery ever in a public hospital.
This historic accomplishment was made possible by the entire team, under the direction of Dr. Nadeem Bin Nusrat, Chairman of the Urology Department. Following a radical nephrectomy (kidney removal), the patient was released from the hospital a short while later.
The team is made up of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rehan Mohsin, Professor of Urology and a leading Robotic Surgeon from SIUT Karachi, and Dr. Riaz Hussain Laghari, Associate Professor of Urology from SIUT Karachi. They work with the PKLI team and CMR Surgical teams from Dubai, Karachi, and Lahore. The PKLI Board of Governors Chairman, Prof. Saeed Akhter, praised the medical staff.
