A court has been informed that TWO schoolboys were struck and killed by a speeding automobile.
The two companions, who were 10 and 11, were struck by Jack Hart, who had been speeding when he had driven his BMW into a bus lane.
Previously, 32-year-old Hart of Anlaby Road in west Hull denied being responsible for the deaths of Steven Duffield on October 19, 2020, and Mason Deakin on November 2, 2020.
Later, he switched to a guilty plea.
When Hart struck the youngsters, they were riding their bicycles.
They were brought to Hull Royal Infirmary, when the awful death of Steven occurred.
Mason was moved to Leeds General Infirmary and maintained in critical care. He was unconscious and tragically died two weeks later.
Hart’s removal of his dashcam following the crash was described in court.
Prior to the start of the trial on Tuesday, according to Charlotte Baines, who is Hart’s attorney, he intends to change his plea to guilty.
Ms. Baines enquired as to whether bail might be issued in advance.
She said: “He has been on bail throughout.
“There has been no difficulty with him surrendering to bail throughout the proceedings.”
But Judge John Thackray KC said: “He has had two years to get his affairs in order.
“He has played the system and left it to the last possible minute.
“His plea has come over two years later than it should have done.”
Hart was told he would be remanded in custody.
Judge Thackray said that Hart faced a “very significant sentence measured in years”.
