Spirit Halloween is renowned for swooping in to rent space at shuttered malls and barren strip malls every year around the end of the summer. It is a one-stop shop for all things Halloween-related, including costumes, decorations, and special effects equipment. Spirit Halloween: The Movie marks the directorial debut of David Poag (Painted Horses, cinematography).
Up till now, Poag has primarily worked on short films and documentaries in a variety of capacities (writer, director, producer, cinematographer). Screenwriter Billie Bates has teamed up with director Poag to pen this next horror-adventure film.
In addition to Spirit Halloween’s formal support, the film is made by Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd. The Goonies and Gremlins were two of his favourite childhood adventure movies, so Noor Ahmed, a producer on the movie and the president of Strike Back Studios, said he “instantly connected with the script.”
What’s Spirit Halloween All Movie About?
Three lads in their middle school years named Jake, Carson, and Bo are the main characters of this goofy, family-friendly horror film. They are about to experience a terrifying night they won’t soon forget. They find out about a folklore surrounding their place when a Spirit Halloween store goes up in a spooky, remote spot.
The ghost of wealthy land developer Alex Windsor, who bought out the town’s residents’ rights to the land, is said to haunt the area. It is alleged that he comes every year to torment the town for one hour on Halloween night after inexplicably disappearing years ago on Halloween. In an effort to catch a glimpse of some eerie activity, the three lads come up with a plan to spend Halloween night inside the Spirit Halloween store after it shuts.
They start to question their decision after being trapped inside the business with the lights out. Animatronics start to light up and make noise on their own, store fixtures start to move, and when customers ask the fortune-teller prop if Alex Windsor’s spirit is haunting them, the prop breaks down.
Carson’s older sister, Kate, joins the lads after learning about their strategy. She first appears to be of assistance as the group is attacked by the Spirit Halloween characters that have come to life, but the trailer suggests that she may eventually turn out to be a hindrance. Will they make it through the night? Will they enter another Spirit Halloween in the future if they do?

The casting of Christopher Lloyd (Back To The Future franchise) and Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That) in this film was first made publically known in April of this year.
Alex Windsor, a rapacious land lord, will be portrayed by Christopher Lloyd. Every year on Halloween, Alex Windsor’s spirit returns to haunt the village where he vanished. He is best recognised for his performances as Uncle Fester in The Addams Family movies, Doc Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, and Bob Odenkirk’s heat-packing father in the 2021 movie Nobody.
Jake’s mother, Sue, will be portrayed by Rachael Leigh Cook. She recently remarried, which will undoubtedly put her and her young adolescent son at odds. As the mother of the girl who intends to transform a male high school buddy in He’s All That, Cook recently completed a reworking of her 1990s classic, She’s All That.
Jake, the leader of the group of pals and the one who proposed setting up camp inside the Spirit Halloween store, will be played by Donovan Colan. Colan made his feature film debut in the 2018 film Zoe, which starred Léa Seydoux and Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi (Crimes of the Future). He also appeared in Chapelwaite, a Stephen King television series.
Jake, Carson, and Bo’s pal Bo will be played by Jaiden J. Smith. Smith has made multiple TV appearances, including ones on the programmes Faith Under Fire and Two Sentence Horror Stories. Although The Mothership, the next sci-fi adventure movie starring Halle Berry, will be his debut feature film, he has already been cast in it.
Marissa Reyes will portray Kate, Carson’s older sister. Reyes and Dylan Martin Frankel have actually before collaborated on the Disney television series Raven’s Home. Her debut in a feature film will also be in this movie.
Grandma G will be played by Marla Gibbs; it is unknown what role she will have in the film, but based on her age and a few brief glimpses in the trailer, it appears like
