On Friday, the Sony Xperia 5 V was unveiled. The smartphone comes in three different color options and one storage option. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with eight cores. The phone has a 5,000mAh battery with built-in support for fast charging. It replaces the Sony Xperia 5 IV, which had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and was released in September 2022. The new phone, in contrast to its predecessor, has a dual rear camera setup rather than a triple rear camera setup.
Price and Availability:
The Sony Xperia 5 V’s 8GB + 256GB model is available for EUR 999. It is available in the colors Black, Blue, and Platinum Silver. Later this month, the phone will begin shipping to Europe, including the UK. Customers who purchase the phone from major UK retailers between September 22 and October 26 will be eligible to take advantage of an exclusive Xperia 5 V launch bundle that includes the Sony WH-CH720N headphones.
Display and Processor:
The 6.1-inch full-HD+ (2520 x 1080) OLED HDR display on the Sony Xperia 5 V has a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. An octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, an Adreno 740 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of internal storage power the phone, which comes pre-installed with Android 13.
The Sony Xperia 5 V has a dual rear camera unit that features an ultra-wide-angle 12-megapixel sensor in addition to a 52-megapixel primary Exmor T sensor for optics. A 12-megapixel sensor is also included with the front camera.

The phone is 154mm x 68mm x 8.6mm in size and weighs 182 grams.
It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Additionally, it offers connectivity for 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB 3.2 Type-C. The phone has a 3.5mm audio jack and is dust- and water-resistant to an IP68 rating.
