The storm destroyed Ankara’s infrastructure with storm-force winds that could reach speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour.
The complete collapse of the roof of a shopping center in the Etimesgut neighborhood was a particularly shocking event. The entire roof was torn off by the strong winds, leaving the building’s interior exposed to the elements.
Furthermore, a nearby mosque in the same neighborhood was severely damaged by the storm’s fury, which also struck its minaret. Tragically, the collapse of the minaret resulted in one person being hurt.
Authorities in Ankara are determining the extent of the storm’s damage and trying to get things back to normal as soon as they can.
The Nallhan, Beypazar, Güdül, Kzlcahamam, Amldere, Ubuk, and Kalecik districts are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, the government has warned the public.
