The province of Sindh will be closed on Friday, September 1, 2023, in observance of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s Urs (death anniversary).
The official notification states that, with the exception of essential services, the decision is applicable to all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Government of Sindh.
Scholar, poet, and revered Sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. At his shrine in Bhit Shah, Sindh, thousands of followers remember His Urs. His poetry will be read aloud, his writings will be sung, and there will be other religious and cultural activities.
Separately, in an effort to promote healthier workplaces, the Sindh Health Department has outlawed mainpuri, gutka, and smoking in all public buildings, including hospitals, throughout the province. Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz, the interim health minister for Sindh, made the announcement on Friday.
The Director General of Health Services Sindh, Dr. Irshad Memon, is in charge of making sure the ban is strictly adhered to.
All Directors and Medical Superintendents of major hospitals and medical institutions have received written instructions urging them to carry out the ban effectively.
