Sindh Transport and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated on Thursday that the provincial government intended to begin construction on the Karachi-Sukkur bullet train project.
He made this statement while serving as meeting’s chair about Karachi’s Yellow Line BRT project. A group from the World Bank and representatives from the transport ministry were present at the meeting.
The minister stated that the World Bank’s assistance is required for the Sindh government’s planned Karachi-Sukkur bullet train project.
He told the meeting that the Sindh government is making a lot of effort to strengthen Karachi’s transportation system.
The minister added that the World Bank was working with the government to develop the first phase of the Karachi-Hyderabad bullet train project.
Additionally, he requested that WB provide 300 electric buses to Karachi as part of the People Bus Service project.
Yellow Line project
Syed Murad Ali, the chief minister of Sindh, presided over a meeting today to evaluate the plans for the building of the Yellow Line BRT project in Karachi.
The World Bank delegation, the Sindh Department of Mass Transit, and Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon all attended the conference.
The meeting was addressed by the transport minister, who said that the 21-kilometer Yellow Line BRT project would begin at Dawood Chowrangi and terminate at Numasih.
According to the conceptual design, Karachi’s Yellow Line BRT project will be 21 km long, 17.6 km at grade, 3.2 km underground, and have 28 stations. It will also have crossings.
