Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of the Multan Sultans, puts the needs of the team above his own criticism.
In an exclusive interview, Rizwan said that his coach had told him not to give up his wicket in the first two overs in Dhaka while playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), even if he just scored a few runs.
“What my captain and coach expect of me is more significant to me. Even if you just score two or three runs in the first two overs in Dhaka during the BPL, your coach has advised you not to throw up your wicket,” Rizwan stated.
“Imrul Kayes, the captain of my squad, also requested me to lead the innings. It is a difficult position since you are chastised for playing an anchor role in T20s,” He persisted.
Anchoring the innings is a difficult duty to execute, as players are frequently chastised for playing a slow-paced game in T20 cricket. Rizwan, on the other hand, stressed that his team’s necessities are more significant than what the naysayers say.
“People with a greater strike rate score in just two or three out of every ten innings. As a result, it is easier for us to play similarly. But, in my opinion, team requirements are more significant than what detractors think,” He stated.
He also discussed the same problem with the Pakistan cricket squad but said that the team has a chance to reach 200 runs if the batting surface is good.
“The Pakistani squad is experiencing the same problem. But we can also score 200 if we have a nice batting track. We must play on this field under these conditions” Rizwan stated.
“I’ve had four collaborations with Babar totaling more than 150 so that both of us can advance. But we evaluate the pitch and hit appropriately” Added he.
During practices and games, the cricket team’s relationships are strengthened by open communication and mutual trust.
“We have excellent communication and fully trust each other while dashing between the wickets or asking for advice on a bowler’s line and length,” Rizwan remarked of Babar Azam.
The upcoming Pakistan Super League season seems intriguing. The winning combination is projected to continue in the upcoming season.
“I also have an excellent working relationship with Shan Masood. We once pursued a 200-run target against the Lahore Qalandars and had a 100-plus partnership. So we have a solid mix, and we aim to keep it going in the future season, as we did the previous two,” Rizwan said.
The cricketer is also looking forward to playing in front of the Sultans’ adoring Multan crowd. Rizwan hopes for a similar experience this time around and is excited to demonstrate their abilities in front of a passionate crowd.
“It would be an incredible sensation to play in front of the Multan fans wearing the Sultans’ shirt since I have yet to play a PSL match there. When Karachi Kings played there, I was on the bench. But it was still a lot of fun to watch the game there, so I’m hoping for a similar experience this time,” He came to a conclusion.
