According to police, a suburban Chicagoan who taught weapons safety lessons inadvertently shot and killed his wife while cleaning his gun. He then turned the gun on himself.
On Saturday afternoon, Simeon Hendrickson, 61, was tinkering with one of his firearms when it unintentionally discharged and shot his wife Laurie Hendrickson, 60, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“Simeon Hendrickson then took his own life with the handgun,” police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife died at a local hospital, cops added.
According to ABC 7, it’s unclear whether Simeone dialed 911 or if one of his neighbors heard the gunfire and requested assistance.
His Facebook page indicates that he was a gun enthusiast who taught firearms training.
