Police are evacuating the building as an active shooter incident has been confirmed at a nearby hospital.
Wednesday morning shortly after 11 a.m., a sizable police presence encircled the CHI St. Vincent North hospital in Sherwood, Arkansas.
There is an active shooter incident at the medical facility, the Sherwood Police Department stated on Facebook.
“A shooter is still active at SVI, we can affirm. No other details will be made public at this time “stated SPD.
A witness, whose father was receiving care there, told KARK 4 News that after they shouted “active shooter” over the intercom, he was urged to take cover in the restroom.
Staff and patients were seen leaving the institution in footage taken on the site.
Additionally responding to the scene are special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ New Orleans base.
No injuries have yet been reported to police.
The SPD has warned drivers and pedestrians to stay away from the area.
