Former Olympian Shahnaz Shaikh has been named the national team’s consultant by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
The decision was made at a crucial Standing Committee of the National Assembly meeting, which was critical for the team’s future.
The Olympian will assume leadership of the team for a two-year period with the goal of improving the national players’ performance.
The Standing Committee applauded the choice, underscoring the potential benefits her appointment could have for the overall structure of the country.
Nawab Sher Wasir, the chairman of the standing committee, and Ehsan Mazari, the minister for IPC, praised the PHF for having the foresight to make this important choice.
Shahnaz Sheikh is scheduled to join the Pakistan hockey team’s training camp this Saturday in preparation for the crucial season, according to reliable sources.
The PHF’s initiative has also received support from committee members Khan Jamali, Mehreen Razak Bhutto, Rana Mubasher, and fellow Olympian Akhtar Rasool.
