Shaheen Afridi, the captain of the Lahore Qalandars, is taken aback by Mohammad Amir’s recent remarks against Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan.
Amir recently made a remark to a local broadcaster that infuriated Azam’s supporters.
“My objective is to take wickets and help my side win games, so whether I’m facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10, it won’t make a difference to me,” Amir declared.
Shaheen, however, feels that because Babar is one of the finest batters in the world, Pakistani players need to respect him.
“Amir made those remarks against Babar. It is unexpected. Everywhere you go, if Babar is competing against any team, people will address him as ‘king.’ Therefore I don’t think this is the best method to deal with Babar,” Shaheen stated on a nearby TV station.
“We admire Babar Azam because he is our captain and is the best player in the world. Who else would regard him as captain if we didn’t?” He inquired.
Babar, the captain of Peshawar Zalmi, scored a match-winning 68-run knock against Karachi Kings on Tuesday to kick off their HBL PSL 8 campaign.
