KARACHI: Due to the increasing number of street crime incidences in Karachi, Additional Inspector-General (AIG) Javed Alam Odho has declared the creation of Shaheen Force, whose sole mission will be to combat street crime.
To keep a look out for muggers, the Shaheen Force, which is mounted on motorcycles, will patrol the marketplaces and public areas. The Shaheen Force also consists of sharpshooters.
The main goal of the new force’s establishment is to stop the rise in street crime in the large city. AIG Odho stated that the police will pursue and combat the muggers.
Officers in the force will be provided with contemporary weaponry and radios so they can react to emergencies as soon as they arise, following instructions from the control centre.
Within two days, the Shaheen Force will be visible patrolling the city’s streets, according to the AIG Karachi.
An accomplice of a street criminal who was seen on camera robbing a person in the street and then recognised through his social media profile was allegedly detained by police earlier that day.
