Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi gets married – to the daughter of former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi
The nikkah was solemnised at a local mosque in Karachi in presence of close relatives of both families.
The Nikah was done by Maulana Abdul Sattar at the Zakaria Mosque, and the bride’s rukhsati would follow.
The cricketers Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan, as well as squash legend Jahangir Khan, attended a reception that followed the Nikah.
Wasim Khan, the General Manager of the International Cricket Council, and Asim Bajwa, the former director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations, attended the event.
Family sources claim that the couple’s mehndi ceremony took place yesterday night. Two days prior to the wedding, Shaheen’s family travelled to Karachi to take part in the festivities.
Two years ago, the couple were engaged.
The left-armer revealed during an interview on the Geo News programme “Aik Din Geo Kai Sath” that he wanted to wed Afridi’s daughter.
“It was my wish and Alhamdulillah [thanks to Allah Almighty] it is fulfilled now,” Shaheen said while blushing during the interview.
When asked whether Ansha felt jealous about his female fans, the 22-year-old cricketer said: “I am not sure, maybe she feels something like that.”
The host asked the young pacer about upsetting his numerous female fans after getting engaged so soon, replying to which he said: “I found my heart and that’s enough for me.”
Shaheen will next be seen in action in the upcoming eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, which will start on February 13. His team, Lahore Qalandars, is the reigning champion.
After suffering a knee injury during the T20 World Cup 2022 final against England on November 13, the fast bowler has been in and out of the cricket pitch for some time.
