After discovering a stained rug in a river, a TikTok influencer called the police, believing it may be connected to the disappearance of Connecticut mother Jennifer Dulos.
Dulos, 50, a mother of five, went missing in May 2019 while engaged in a contentious divorce and child custody dispute with her estranged husband Fotis Dulos. She is currently missing and is considered dead.
Despite the fact that no body was ever discovered, he was accused of her murder and kidnapping, and on January 30, 2020, he took his own life.
After being married for 13 years, the couple engaged in a two-year custody dispute over their kids.
The rug was found next to a home where Fotis had once lived by TikTok celebrity Sean Austin, who defines himself as a paranormal investigator, psychic-medium, and demonologist.
Authorities flocked to the area after Austin reported the rug to them on Sunday in an effort to locate any missing evidence.
The rug appeared to have a vertical stain in the centre, which, according to him, led them to the location on the riverside.
In a video posted on Sunday he said: ‘We did a little investigation here with scuba divers in the Farmington River, and we found something shady, possibly having to do with the case of Jennifer Dulos.’
After it was determined that her husband had attacked and killed her on May 24, 2018, state police last year conducted a search of his Farmington home.
Both his former lover Michell Troconis and his former attorney Kent Mawhinney have entered not guilty pleas in connection with the case’s allegations of conspiracy to commit murder.
While awaiting trial, both are free on bond, and Troconis has also entered a not-guilty plea to counts of tampering with evidence and impeding an investigation.
Dulos is believed to be dead after police discovered evidence of a major attack in the garage of her New Canaan home, which occurred after she dropped her kids off at school.
Investigators discovered bags of debris in Hartford that contained Dulos’ blood and DNA, although some evidence was preserved.
Detectives looking into the case also never discovered a carpet fragment they thought was from her SUV.
Prior to her passing, Dulos claimed in divorce papers that she knew her husband would be furious if she filed.
She asserted that he displayed “irrational, unsafe, aggressive, threatening, and controlling behaviour” and that he would “retaliate by trying to injure her in some way.”
She reportedly said: “I am worried for my safety and the physical safety and emotional well-being of our little children,” according to court records.
Large amounts of Dulos’ blood were discovered by the police in her garage, on trash cans, and in her master bedroom, according to hundreds of pages of search warrants, which also included explosive interviews with their children’s nanny.
Up until the point of his suicide, her estranged husband maintained his denial of any participation in her death.
It is’strongly believed,’ according to records, that Jennifer was attacked in the garage of her New Canaan house shortly after she returned from the school run.
