“We welcome the Pakistan Cricket Board’s desire to play Afghanistan in March. This is a huge victory for two close-by nations,” said ACB Chairman Mr. Mirwais Ashraf.
“I am thrilled that the inaugural Pakistan vs Afghanistan T20I series will be played later this month in a city that has a sizable ex-pat community and which has historically supported cricketers from both nations,” said Mr. Najam Sethi, chair of the PCB Management Committee.
“The PCB and ACB have a long-standing, friendly relationship that dates to the 1990s. Even today, Afghanistan players are hugely popular in the HBL PSL. I have no doubt that both teams’ cricket players will put on their best performances while donning their national jerseys for the next international series and delight the fervent spectators who are huge fans of the sport,” he continued.
According to reports, due to their outstanding achievements in the current Pakistan Super League, Azam Khan, Imad Wasim, Ihsanullah, and Osama Mir are being considered for a spot on the national squad for the Afghanistan series (PSL). There is also a plan to rest some seasoned cricketers and give some inexperienced players a chance.
