The tragedy started on September 23, when 16-year-old YouTuber Sarina Esmailzadeh was killed by a baton at a demonstration in Karaj, Alborz region, according to campaigners.
After the mother made several attempts to retrieve her remains, she was informed that her daughter was immoral and a terrorist.
Local news sources stated that after she finally saw the brutally beaten body, she ran home and killed herself.
According to Amnesty International, intelligence officers allegedly harassed and threatened the teen’s family in an effort to silence them.
Twitter users said that the mother’s suicide was brought on by both the murder of her daughter and the brutal behaviour of security personnel.
The videos of Ms. Esmailzadeh on YouTube show her not wearing a hijab, which is against Iran‘s rigorous dress code.
Others show her dancing with an unnamed male while sporting loose hair. She is heard talking about topics like women’s rights.
Before the authorities turned over her remains, her family had been searching for her for ten days.
When parents of deceased demonstrators want to bury their children, government officials frequently place stringent restrictions on them.
Since protests erupted last month over the death of Mahsa Amina, 22, who had been held by Tehran’s morality police on suspicion of violating the hijab dress code, the death toll has increased to 185.
State TV’s Saturday night news was interrupted by hackers when it was featuring a story on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the nation’s supreme leader.
The image of the cleric was posted online by an organisation called Ali’s Justice with the message, “The blood of our kids is gushing from your claws.”
Amnesty International said authorities have asserted that people died during protests were either aggressive and dangerous or were killed by other “rioters.”
Private chat groups among Iranian schoolgirls revealed plans for additional demonstrations in favour of Ms. Esmailzadeh and 17-year-old Nika Shakarami, who was reported missing on September 20 and is believed to have been tortured and killed by security personnel.
