At the second Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 was introduced on Wednesday. The latest foldable smartphone from the company has a 6.2-inch cover screen, a 7.6-inch AMOLED inner display, and a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy processor. Both displays can refresh at up to 120Hz. According to the company, the foldable phone uses Samsung’s new Flex Hinge, which has a dual rail structure and is intended to reduce external impact.
Price and Availability:
The price for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,799. In addition to the standard 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configuration, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also offered in 512GB and 1TB storage configurations with the same amount of RAM. The recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will come in the colors Cream, Icy Blue, and Phantom Black.
The phone will also come in Blue and Gray color options, but only when purchased through the Samsung.com website. In some markets, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 can already be ordered in advance. Sales of the foldable will begin on August 11.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 is used by the dual-SIM (Nano or Nano+eSIM) Galaxy Z Fold 5. According to Samsung, the phone will get four OS upgrades and five years of security updates. The device has an internal 7.6-inch QXGA+ (2,176 x 1,812 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with an adaptive refresh rate that varies between 1Hz and 120Hz. It has a 12.6:18 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 374ppi.
The device also has an external 6.2-inch full-HD+ (2,316 x 904 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with a pixel density of 412ppi and a 23.1:9 aspect ratio. Its adaptive refresh rate ranges between 48Hz and 120Hz. The recently released Galaxy Z Fold 5’s internal hardware consists of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset and 12GB of RAM.
Cameras:
A 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS), and an f/1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with phase detection autofocus, OIS, and an f/2.4 aperture make up the triple rear camera setup on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
For selfies and video calls, the inner screen of the phone has a 4-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture, while the cover display of the phone has a 10-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
Storage:
Storage options for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
Battery and Charging:
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a 4,400mAh battery and, according to the company, can be charged to 50% capacity in 30 minutes using a 25W adapter. The device also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare for accessories and other devices.
Dimensions and Weight:
It weighs 253g and has dimensions of 67.1×154.9×13.4mm when folded and 129.9×154.9×6.1mm when unfolded.
Features:
The device has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity options. There are several sensors on board, including a proximity sensor, an ambient sensor, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone is water resistant and has an IPX8 rating.
