
Today (July 26) at the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 5 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The new foldable smartphone with a clamshell design succeeds the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from last year and offers upgrades like a new Flex Hinge, a bigger cover display, and a newer chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, which is specifically designed for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, has overclocked CPU and GPU cores. The display and rear glass are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and have an IPX8 water-resistance rating. A 3,700mAh battery powers the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is available for a starting price of $999. It is available in the following colors: Blue, Cream, Graphite, Gray, Green, Lavender, Mint, and Yellow. Additionally, Samsung offers a variety of case options for its most recent phone, including clear gadgets, flap eco-leather, flipsuit, and silicone with ring.
Select international markets will start selling the Galaxy Z Flip 5 on August 11. During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Its starting price is $1,799.

The dual-SIM (Nano + eSIM) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has Armor Aluminum frames and runs Android 13 with OneUI 5.1.1 on top. It has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex inner display with a 22:9 aspect ratio and full-HD+ (1,080×2,640 pixels) refresh rate. The main display is the same as the model from the previous year. The new phone, however, has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED folder-shaped cover display with a resolution of 720×748 pixels, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a pixel density of 306ppi. This is a significant improvement over the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s 1.9-inch, 260 x 512 cover display. Additionally protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 are the display and back panel.
Samsung’s latest flagship comes with 8GB onboard memory and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform designed specifically for the Galaxy. The CPU and GPU cores on this exclusive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC are overclocked.
Cameras:
Similar to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a dual rear camera system that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor with an ultra-wide field of view and an f/2.2 lens, as well as a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual pixel autofocus and an f/1.8 lens, 83-degree field of view, and support for optical image stabilization (OIS). A 10-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.2 lens and an 85-degree field of view is used for both selfies and video calls. Its folding display is positioned on top of the selfie sensor.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has internal storage options of 256GB and 512GB.

On the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung has included a 3,700mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. The battery can be charged from empty to 50%, according to the manufacturer, in just 30 minutes. Additionally, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare are supported by the phone.

Moreover, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s folded dimensions are 71.9×165.1×6.9mm and its unfolded dimensions are 71.9×85.1×15.1mm. It is 187 grams heavy.

5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port are among the available forms of connectivity. The new model, which has an IPX8-rated construction, lacks dust resistance just like the previous generation of foldable smartphones. An accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor are among the sensors on board. For authentication, it also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
