According to a new source, the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will all include the unique Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC when they launch on February 1. A customised version of Qualcomm’s most recent SoC with overclocked CPU cores may be included in the Galaxy S series phones. A 4nm process-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC was released around the end of the previous year. It supports high-end picture sensors as the 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP3 and provides Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. In a few markets last year, Samsung fitted the Galaxy S22 variants with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The Galaxy S22 series was introduced in various markets using an Exynos 2200 chipset.
Samsung will employ a customised Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in the forthcoming Galaxy S23 series, claims a 9to5Google report. The “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy” is claimed to be the name of Qualcomm’s most recent SoC, which will be utilised in the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra devices, according to the story, which is based on an internal document. The primary CPU core on the original chip has a maximum clock speed of 3.2GHz. The specialised Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is rumoured to include Samsung-specific optimizations as well.
Qualcomm’s Chief Financial Officer made a suggestion that Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S23 series would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in November of last year. He claimed that the introduction of a new Samsung smartphone in the second half of Q1 2023 would be advantageous to the business.
In July of last year, Samsung and Qualcomm signed into a multi-year arrangement to supply Snapdragon chipsets for upcoming high-end Samsung Galaxy smartphones worldwide. Aside from PCs and tablets, the arrangement also covers extended reality. In a few markets, the chip manufacturer provided the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra versions. The Galaxy S22 series was introduced with Exynos 2200 chipsets in various markets.
The next Galaxy S23, Galaxy 23+, and Galaxy 23 Ultra versions are expected to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, according to several Geekbench listings and leaks. The latest Galaxy S series smartphones will be introduced on February 1 during an event called Galaxy Unpacked 2023.
