During the Galaxy Unpacked event in February of this year, the Samsung Galaxy S23 series with the One UI 5.1 skin based on Android 13 was unveiled. The smartphone company with its headquarters in Suwon is reportedly getting ready to release the Galaxy S23 series’ One UI 6.0 beta in the third week of July. Other compatible Samsung smartphones and tablets are expected to receive the newest version of One UI “soon thereafter.” According to reports, the One UI 6.0 update is based on Android 14. This month, more users received access to the Android 14 Beta 3 testing version of Google’s operating system.
In the third week of July, Samsung intends to release the first beta version of One UI 6.0, its bespoke skin based on Android 14, for the Galaxy S23 series. Other eligible devices would receive the One UI 6.0 beta “soon thereafter.” The latest One UI skin should be made available to the general public before the end of this year if Samsung’s previous updates are any indication.
On top of Android 13.0, the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ulta are currently powered by One UI 5.1. Along with the most recent Galaxy S series models, the Galaxy S22 flagships from a year ago, the Galaxy S21 series, as well as the Galaxy S21 FE phones, may be eligible for the One UI 6.0 update. The older Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S10 Lite, and a few other devices will only be able to receive security updates and will not receive the upcoming major OS update.
Over the current One UI 5.0, the upcoming One UI 6.0 update is anticipated to bring many significant improvements. These could include updates that are seamless, more customization options, and connectivity features for tablets and Galaxy wearables. The Android 14 update was previewed by Google at Google I/O last month, and public beta testers have had access to it for some time. The third beta of Android 14 is now accessible for Pixel phones.
