At the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2023, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S23 series as planned. The most recent generation of the Galaxy S family includes three smartphones, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
New designs are featured on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. But the specs are largely the same as those of the previous generation of phones (Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus).
With a few exceptions, including the screen and battery size, both devices are nearly identical to one another. Additionally, they are more affordable than the Ultra.
Let’s take a look at everything they have to offer.
Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus Specifications
The Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a refresh rate of 48-120Hz, and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2-coated, centred punch-hole screen can play HDR10+ media.
Both devices’ panels have a maximum peak brightness of 1,750 nits. The S23’s display is only smaller than the S23 Plus’, measuring 6.1 inches as opposed to 6.6 inches.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset powers the devices. This semiconductor is coupled with UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5x RAM (UFS 3.1 for the 128GB variant).
They start One UI 5.1, which is based on Android 13, when it comes to software. They have numerous connectivity choices, including USB 3.2, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, 5G, and UWB (only available on the Plus version) (Type-C).
The devices come equipped with a front-facing 12MP camera and a triple camera setup on the back. A 50MP main sensor with OIS capability, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with autofocus, and a 12MP telephoto sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens and OIS make up the rear camera configuration.
The IP68 rating for dust and water protection applies to the phones. They have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and dual stereo speakers that enable Dolby Atmos.
A 3,900mAh battery powers the Galaxy S23, while a 4,700mAh battery powers the Galaxy S23 Plus. The Plus model supports up to 45W of cable charging whereas the vanilla model is only capable of 25W. Both allow for 15W wireless charging, however.
