Roy Ackland, a beloved local television host, died at the age of 84, leaving behind a bereaved family.
Ackland, who was a regular on Fox 8 (WGHP) in North Carolina, died on Tuesday evening, according to his daughter Robin Kay Ackland on Facebook.
The cause of death was not immediately revealed.
His family moved to America and settled in Nashville, Tennessee after he was born in London.
Ackland, a Baylor University graduate, joined the Air Force, where he developed an interest in flying and weather forecasting.
His broadcasting career began in 1958, when he joined KCEN-TV 6 in Waco, Texas.
