Roslyn Singleton, who gained notoriety during her emotional battle with cancer and went on to appear on programmes like America’s Got Talent and The Ellen Degeneres Show, has passed away. 39 years old.
When her husband Ray Singleton uploaded a video of himself singing to her just before she underwent brain cancer surgery, Singleton first appeared on our screens two years ago. On Wednesday, he posted on Instagram to confirm her passing.
“Our wife earned her wings yesterday while peacefully sleeping right at home where she wanted to be,” he wrote. “This road ahead is going to be INCREDIBLY long & difficult! She taught us all SOMETHING.”
He continued, “She’s where we’re all trying to get one day so no need to be sad! Now we celebrate her legacy, her impact, her story & HER SPIRIT! She will LIVE FOREVER!!”
During a 2020 appearance on The Ellen Show, Roslyn, a Navy veteran who had previously battled cancer, revealed that her tumour was the size of an orange. Six years had passed since Roslyn’s last brain tumour diagnosis while she was in remission.
Their appearance on The Ellen Show and her husband’s audition for Season 16 of America’s Got Talent were a result of his video, which he claimed he made to “make her smile” after surgery.
His audition, which moved many spectators to tears, including his wife, who subsequently joined him on the AGT stage, won him fans even if he didn’t win the competition event. She met the judges there, including Sofia Vergara, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel.
He sang so well, Roslyn told the judges, that she had “been crying since he started” and that she had “never heard him sing.”
