The development of technology has advantages and disadvantages. Less effort is being made by professionals to complete demanding physical jobs. However, the disadvantages, which include job loss, are quite worrying. Research has long shown that the day when robots take over is not that far off. It appears that the day has come.
McDonald’s inaugurated a completely automated location in Fort Worth, Texas, in December of last year. Since the meal was prepared and served by robots, the test outlet was devoid of any human staff. Recently, kaansanity, a TikToker, stopped by the outlet and recounted his story.
NowThis shared the video on Twitter. The TikToker is seen moving around the little, completely autonomous outlet. He begins by choosing his order via an app before going on to demonstrate how the order is delivered by a robot. An automated conveyer belt carries the order to the window while the outlet operates in a drive-through fashion. There are no people working on the process.

Over 110k people have seen the video. The restaurant was a test site for “developing innovative methods to serve [customers] faster and simpler than ever before,” according to a blog post from McDonald’s.
The franchisee running the test restaurant, Keith Vanecek, wrote in the blog post, “The technology in this restaurant not only allows us to serve our customers in new, innovative ways, it gives our restaurant team the ability to concentrate more on order speed and accuracy, which makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone.”

It’s just an expensive ploy to not interact with the public while the line cooks and mangers making the food in the back just set it on the line and let WallE handle the rest.

No thanks. I'm doing nothing to promote robots taking away jobs.

AdvertisementOrdering a Big Mac shouldn't be this difficult. Who do I talk to, if my order isn't right? A Robot?
