A vulnerable British man who went missing after failing to board his trip back to the UK has been sadly discovered dead.
Robert Campbell, 44, was on his first trip overseas, to Lanzarote, Spain, with a buddy.
The duo were scheduled to fly back home on Thursday, May 11, but the Scotsman became ill and was brought to the hospital.
Medical personnel examined Robert from Uddingston, Scotland, and determined he was fit to go home.
Campbell and his friend Paddy were separated at the airport on their second attempt to return to the UK, and Campbell was never seen again.
Worried relatives and friends submitted impassioned pleas for assistance in finding him, and two loved ones traveled out to Las Palmas to search for him.
Margueritte Devine, his sister, has now revealed that her brother was discovered deceased on Tuesday night.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist with the costs of transporting Robert home and his burial.
Marguerite said: “Sadly our brother died in Lanzarote yesterday and we’re left with a bill of 6 and 10 thousand pounds in funeral fees.
“We are desperate to get him home asap so I am writing this to reach out from my heart to help us bring him home.”
Robert has also received tributes on social media, with his family thanking everyone who assisted in his search, according to the Daily Record.
“Could everyone please share this and help us get our (uncle Rab) Robert Campbell home asap where he belongs,” one person commented in response to the fundraising.
“And a massive thank you to each and every one who took their time to share his post about him being missing and help us find him.
