A Frenchman famed for extreme sports died after falling from the 68th floor of a Hong Kong residential building.
According to the South China Morning Post, Remi Lucidi, 30, was ascending the Tregunter Tower complex when the man fell.
Lucidi, also known as Remi Enigma on the internet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Hong Kong authorities, Lucidi arrived at the building about 6 p.m. and informed the security guard that he was going to see a buddy on the 40th level.
After the purported friend confirmed he was not familiar with Lucidi, a security officer attempted to detain him, but the stuntman had already grabbed an elevator.
Later, security footage showed Lucidi entering on the 49th level and then taking the steps to the top of the building.
Those looking for Lucidi reported finding the hatch leading to the roof open, but he was nowhere to be seen.
According to authorities, the man was last seen alive at 7:38 p.m. when he tapped on the window of the complex’s penthouse, prompting a maid to phone 911.
According to the unnamed source, authorities believe Lucidi was stuck outside the penthouse and was hammering on the window for help before the sad catastrophe.
According to a person close to the incident, investigators discovered Lucidi’s camera at the site, which featured films of his past death-defying exploits.
The cause of death has yet to be determined by police.
According to Gurjit Kaur, owner of the hostel where Lucidi was reportedly boarded, the guest was a “friendly and humble guy.”
“He was healthy and fit and happy-faced,” Kaur told the news outlet. “I feel very sad.”
A worker at the hostel claimed that he had spoken with Lucidi several times before his death and that he had told him that the man was visiting Hong Kong on vacation.
“He told me he was going to hike a mountain when I asked where he was going. He said he wanted to hike a lot when he was here,” said the worker.
Several of Lucidi’s fans took to social media to express their own grief.
