On social media, a video purporting to depict barely edible “hostel ka khana (Hostel’s cuisine)” is gaining popularity. Sakshi Jain, who lists her occupation as a content strategist, offered a peek at what it’s like to consume hostel meals on Twitter. She used a paratha as an example, which appears to be so tough that it is almost edible.
In the video, a lady is seen clutching a paratha in her hand and smashing it on a wooden table, perhaps inside the grounds of her hostel. While it’s intended to be soft, the paratha is so stiff that it doesn’t even bend or break. The woman tries many times to shatter it by giving the table a forceful thump, but she is unable. At the conclusion of the video, the woman asks, “How is one expected to eat this?”
