A £5.5 million transfer of Raul Jimenez from Wolves to Fulham has been finalized. After spending five years with the West Midlands club, the Mexican striker departs Molineux.
Jimenez, 32, was expected to join Manchester United for £60 million in 2020. After losing favor at Wolves, he now has a two-year contract with Fulham.
Should they so choose, Marco Silva’s team has the option to extend the agreement for an additional 12 months. Jimenez said to the Fulham club media after completing his move to Craven Cottage: “It’s really important for me to arrive here.
“I’ll do everything I can for the team, which is among the most recognizable in the Premier League.
I’m glad to be here and to play in this stadium; it’s a great place to play. I’ll do everything in my power to continue scoring goals in the Premier League.
In his first two seasons in the Premier League, Jimenez scored a total of 30 goals. He scored four more goals in ten games at the start of the 2020–21 season before breaking his skull against Arsenal.
The forward recovered remarkably well in time to score six goals in 2021–2022, just before the new season began. However, he lost favor last season under Julen Lopetegui after failing to score in 15 Premier League appearances.
Despite his difficult recent years, many supporters think Fulham got a good deal.
One user tweeted, “Best bang for your buck.”
Another person commented, “Great deal for Fulham.”
According to a third, “Fulham are about to revive his career.”
Furthermore, another person said: “At first I thought that price there is his FPL.”
Whether Jimenez will serve as Aleksandar Mitrovic’s replacement is uncertain.
The Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal made two bids for the Serbian player, but he has made it clear that he wants to leave Craven Cottage this summer.
