After discovering their son’s remains dispersed across three different locations, a family has become anxious for explanations.

Rasheem Carter, 25, reportedly called his mother just before he passed away to report that “three truckloads of white guys” were attempting to kill him.

His family feels the young father was killed in a “modern-day lynching,” and they have asked the police, who at first claimed that no “foul play was involved,” why they initially denied any involvement.

Rasheem was “dutifully and gainfully employed,” striving to support his little child, a family lawyer claimed.

The man’s mother, Tiffany Carter, reported her son missing in October 2022, not long after he had called to complain about being harassed by a bunch of white guys in trucks.

In a rural location close to Taylorsville, Mississippi, authorities discovered his remains over the course of several months after he vanished.

His head, body, and spine were all over the place, dispersed over a large region.

Animals might have pulled his body apart, police earlier told Insider.

The family is collaborating with renowned civil rights lawyer Ben Crump because they think Rasheem was killed as a result of racial profiling.

They claim they were informed via email that Rasheem’s remains had been discovered.

In a statement, Mr. Crump said: “It is unacceptable that the family had to learn that more of Rasheem’s remains had been discovered through an email.”

Part of his remains were found on November 2 2022, more found an unspecified time later and a third set was found February 23.

In a press conference, Mr Crump said that Rasheem’s head was found “severed from his body”.

He continued: “His vertebrate, his spinal cord was in another spot they discovered away from his severed head.”

He also said that someone had tried to use the dead man’s credit card after it was determined he was dead.

Mr Crump said: “And we believe that is a big clue.

“Think about it, the person who had his credit card is likely to have encountered him while he was alive, and it shouldn’t have to be this difficult for this broken-hearted mother to get answers.”

Rasheem’s death “could not reasonably be determined” to have had any known causes, according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Department.

This was brought on by the state in which the bones were discovered.

Authorities have acknowledged that they think Rasheem was murdered, according to his relatives.

He was being threatened by people he knew, according to Ms. Carter.

“My son told me that it was three truckloads of white guys trying to kill him,” she said.

She also disclosed that her kid had texted her a warning just before he vanished.

He stated, “Me and the owner of this company not seeing eye to eye, mama,” as she read from her phone.

“‘If anything happened to me, he’s responsible for it. I’m too smart for it, mama. He got these guys wanting to kill me,’ and that’s what he sent to me.”

He was seen on a trail camera on October 2, one day after his final contact with his family, in the forested region where he was eventually discovered.

Rasheem is shown in the video shirtless. He is clutching what appears to be a huge stick and his body appears to be covered in bruises.

Police add that even though Ms. Carter claims that the video depicts her son “running for his life,” the alleged bruises may simply be shadows.

“When I see that picture, I know my son was somewhere struggling, somewhere running for his life,” the anguished mother continued. I’m positive that he was pursued there.

Attorney Carlos Moore, who is serving as co-counsel for the family, said the young man was “dutifully and gainfully employed.”

Mr Moore said: “And ends up dead, chased by what we believe to be a white supremacist, a lynch mob.”

The family have urged the Department of Justice to investigate further and held a protest on Saturday April 29 to keep pressure up.
