According to news sources and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, rapper and entrepreneur Kee Riches, 23, was shot and killed on Saturday in Compton, close to the 1500 block of South Chester Avenue.
Riches, Robert Leflore Jr., 29, and an unidentified lady were all found with gunshot wounds close to South Park in Compton when Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies arrived in response to a report of a shooting victim. According to a coroner representative who spoke to L.A. TACO, Riches and Leflore Jr. were both pronounced dead at the site at around 10 PM, while the woman was taken to a local hospital and was classified in stable condition.
On any suspects, there was no information available as of Sunday.
Riches claimed in a 2019 interview with former L.A. TACO Editor-In-Chief Daniel Hernandez that he began rapping at the age of 15 or 16 and grew up playing sports on the westside of Compton. By that time, Riches had established a reputation as a rapper and had launched the profitable Get Rich clothing line and record label.
However, Riches’ desire to support his neighborhood was what set him apart from his friends. “Many people usually say that I distinguish myself [by] giving back to my community, that you don’t really see a lot of artists and young men rising up genuinely trying to give back or help their neighborhood when they really don’t have anything. I want to give something because I have something. He distributed dozens of backpacks to children throughout the summers before the start of the school year, and at Christmas, toys.
Kee Riches was such a light to this world ..and his legacy will never be forgotten ..A fkn legend forever dog
