The Sharjah Human Resources Authority (HRA) has officially announced Ramadan working hours for government employees. During Ramadan, the staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The authority also stated that departments and other institutions that work in shifts are free to set their own working hours.
Sharjah’s Ramadan schedule is mostly in line with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources’ advisory (FAHR).
FAHR previously declared working hours for ministries and federal institutions, which will be from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday.
Similarly, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) announced that working hours in the private sector will be reduced by two hours during the holy month.
According to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Centre (EAS), Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23, and will last 29 days, with Eid-ul-Fitr falling on Friday, April 21.
Dubai School Timings
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has also issued new timings and instructions to schools throughout Dubai.
Schools must hold a maximum of five hours of classes during Ramadan and must end before 12 p.m. on Fridays for Jumma prayer, according to the notification.
If requested, fasting students will be permitted to skip Physical Education (PE) classes. Meanwhile, homework and revisions will be reduced so that fasting students are not overburdened during the holy month.
