The 20-month-old Quinton Simon has been missing for four days, but authorities in Chatham County, Georgia, are still hopeful that he will be discovered alive.
The youngster was reported missing from his house on Wednesday morning in an unincorporated area of the county close to Savannah, but according to county authorities, no wrongdoing is being suspected.
“We’re going to hold out hope that he’s still alive, and that we can find him and bring him home safe to his parents,” Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley said at a news conference Thursday.
The case has received a lot of media coverage and a significant law police response.
“We appreciate everyone’s offers of help, but we are not in need of volunteers,” the police department said in a statement.
An army of law enforcement personnel and supporting equipment, including as horses, tracking dogs, drones, and helicopters, have been used in the search for the child, according to the police. According to Hadley, detectives have put in 20-hour days.
His house, a pond, drainage pipes, dumpsters, neighbouring woods, and other unidentified areas have all been explored thus far.
