The Multan Sultans will play Quetta Gladiators in the current Pakistan Super League after a stunning victory against Peshawar Zalmi in the previous game. If Quetta loses, they would be eliminated from the competition, therefore the Mohammad Nawaz-led team will be anxious to win their third straight game.
Quetta must now defeat Multan Sultans in order to advance to the playoffs, while Peshawar Zalmi must lose their last league encounter against Islamabad United in order for Peshawar Zalmi to do the same.
The Sultans had already qualified because of their thrilling run chase in the previous game. Although veteran Kieron Pollard hit 52 off just 25 balls, South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw completely stole the show with a brilliant century (121 off 51 deliveries). The team led by Mohammad Rizwan was chasing 243 runs with five balls remaining thanks to their cautious innings.
They beat Zalmi by eight wickets in the previous game before arriving in Quetta. With the bat, Jason Roy stood out, scoring 145 runs off 63 deliveries for England, whereas Mohammad Hafeez only managed to score 41 runs off just 18 deliveries. Quetta may put a lot of pressure on the Sultans if they can play a similar style of cricket.
