The rising concerns about the queen’s health occurred less than 24 hours after she postponed a meeting with the Privy Council, her official group of advisors that includes Liz Truss, the incoming prime minister of Britain, on the advice of medical professionals.
This week, the queen officially installed Truss as prime minister at Balmoral, the first place outside of London’s Buckingham Palace where she had done so throughout her 70-year reign.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime,” Truss said on Twitter on Thursday.
