The pay for government employees in grades 1 through 16 has significantly increased by 35 percent, according to a statement from the Punjab interim administration.
According to the official statement, the administration has also given the go-ahead for a pay increase of 30% for employees in grades 17 to 22.
Additionally, a 17.5% increase in pension payments has been approved by the regional government.
However, the implementation of the salary increase will be based on the civil servants’ current base pay, as stated in the notification.
It is important to draw attention to the recent protests government workers in Punjab staged in order to demand a raise in pay. Federal government assurances brought an end to the protests.
A coalition known as the All Government Employees Alliance had been formed to apply pressure on the Punjab government to give in to their demands.
