Due to the harsh cold spell affecting the entire state, the government of Punjab is considering extending winter vacations.
The Punjab Government may decide to prolong the winter break by one week, from January 9 to January 15.
It is important to note that the province’s winter break was originally scheduled to conclude on December 31 with educational institutions reopening on January 2. However, the provincial government decided to prolong the holidays in response to requests from the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Following a petition requesting the court’s involvement to control the deteriorating smog condition in the city, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the Government of Punjab to extend the winter vacations in the province by an additional week on December 27.
Following the instructions, the Punjabi government extended the winter break from January 2 to January 8, 2023. On January 9, all classes would resume as usual with a full week of classes.
