Due to the delayed start of the current academic year in schools, the Punjab government is thinking about decreasing the curriculum for classes 1 through 10.
The School Education Department (SED) in Punjab has reportedly already begun work on reducing the curriculum for all courses from kindergarten to matriculation by 20%.
After consulting with all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs), SED Punjab will make the ultimate decision, and in due order, an official announcement would be published.
On the other hand, students and their parents have applauded the provincial government’s move, arguing that if the syllabus hadn’t been condensed, the pupils would have been overburdened.
The Punjab government is reportedly thinking of introducing a law to control private schools, according to a report from earlier today. SED Punjab has already sent a summary of this to the provincial government.
A draught law based on the summary would be submitted to the Punjab Assembly after approval. Punjab Private Educational Institutions Authority would be created if authorised.
The authority will be in charge of handling concerns pertaining to private educational institutions, including controlling the tuition and payment schedule in order to benefit parents and students.
