PSL 8 schedule : PSL 2023, the 8th edition of the Pakistan Super League, will take place from 13th February to 19th March – here’s the full PSL 2023 schedule, including fixtures and start times for the T20 tournament. Get the PSL 2023 latest and updated schedule and timetable here.
PSL 2023 – aka PSL 8 – will feature 34 matches played in Pakistan across four venues: Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The final, played on the 19 March, will be at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The league stage will feature six teams playing in a round-robin format, with the top four sides qualifying for the playoff stages. The top two teams will advance to Qualifier, while the third and fourth-ranked sides will move to the first Eliminator.
On Monday, February 13, at the scenic Multan Cricket Stadium, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will square off in the first game of the HBL Pakistan Super League 8.
Lahore Qalandars, who in 2022 upset Multan Sultans by 42 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium, will have an added incentive going into the eighth iteration of the competition because they might become the first franchise to win back-to-back championships. Prior to Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi experienced a similar circumstance when they advanced to the 2018 championship game as the defending champions but lost to Islamabad United, who won their second championship in three years, at the very last minute.
No other team has advanced to the championship game in the largest, fiercestly competitive, and most taxing league in cricket, with the exception of Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans.
The 34-match tournament will be split among Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The scheduling of the event has been planned so that each of the four home teams would play five matches in front of their supporters—one against each other.
As a result, Qalandars will play five games at the Gaddafi Stadium while the remaining five will be played at Multan (one), Karachi, and Rawalpindi (two each). Similar to how Sultans will play their five away games at Rawalpindi (three), Karachi, and Lahore (one each), Kings will play their five away games in Rawalpindi (three), Lahore, and Multan, and United will play its five away games in Karachi (three), Lahore, and Multan.
Quetta Gladiators’ 10 league games will be played in Karachi, Rawalpindi (four in each), Lahore, and Multan, while Peshawar Zalmi’s games will be played in Rawalpindi (five), Karachi (three), Lahore, and Multan, respectively.
The HBL PSL 8 will consist of two legs, with matches taking place at Multan Cricket Stadium and National Bank Cricket Arena from February 13 to February 26 and then at Gaddafi Stadium and Pindi Cricket Stadium from February 26 to March 19. The Qualifier, two Eliminators, and the Final will all take place from March 15–19 at the cricket stadium in Pakistan.
Three demonstration matches will be performed prior to the men’s matches in Rawalpindi on March 8, 10, and 11 in order to soft-launch the Pakistan Women’s League during the HBL PSL 8. Leading domestic and international athletes are anticipated on both of the women’s teams; further information will be released.
For the first time since 2020, locations other Karachi and Lahore will host the PSL, which will be played entirely throughout Pakistan this season. This year, matches will also be held in Rawalpindi in addition to the aforementioned three cities. There are 10 matches in each of the following cities: Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan (5).
Quetta was supposed to be the fifth PSL 8 location, which would have been a welcome step, but the talks fell through because of weather-related restrictions in Pakistan’s largest province (by area).
“The main reason is extreme weather in Quetta and also the delay in starting the preparations for the extravaganza,” a PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) official had told The News last month while expressing hope around the Bugti Stadium likely to host a few matches during PSL 2024.

Chair of PCB Management Committee, Mr Najam Sethi: “I am delighted to formally confirm the schedule of the HBL PSL 8, which will allow the Pakistan Cricket Board and the six franchises to start firming up and finalising their respective event plans and objectives.
“The HBL PSL 8 will be a massive event for the PCB, taking place at the four iconic venues with the world’s best T20 cricketers in action. We aim to make the HBL PSL bigger, better and stronger than ever before with the overarching ambition to make it the first-choice event for leading T20 cricketers.
“Each of the six sides will enter the HBL PSL 8 with lots at stake. Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful team with three titles, Lahore Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back to back titles and the remaining four teams will once again attempt to put a hand on the glittering silverware. This makes up for an exciting, enthralling and entertaining 34-match tournament.
“There will be no question on the quality of cricket that will be played in over 34 days of action-packed cricket. I am hoping the HBL PSL will once again live up to its expectations of unearthing and identifying future stars who will not only challenge the established household names in this edition but will go on to represent Pakistan.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to HBL, who have supported this tournament since its inception in 2016 by retaining the title sponsorship rights. I would also like to thank all our other valued commercial partners, broadcasters and franchise owners for their patronage, and hope they will continue to show faith in our pinnacle event and the PCB’s administrative vision, skills and capabilities so that we can collectively work together to enhance the image and profile of Pakistan cricket.
“Finally, I would request the passionate Pakistan cricket fans to back the HBL PSL 8 by turning up in big numbers and showing their appreciation and support for not only their favourite teams and players, but towards all other participants.
“May the best side lift the most prestigious Trophy of the Pakistan cricket calendar at the home of Pakistan cricket on 19 March!”
Meanwhile, on the request of the franchises, the PCB has agreed to increase the number of players per side to 20, allowing each franchise to pick two additional Supplementary players. The Supplementary players will be picked in the Replacement Draft, which will take place on Tuesday, 24 January.
