PSL 8 Points Table: Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans in the opening match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Khushdil Shah put a lot of effort into the Sultans’ cause, striking two boundaries off the final two balls to bring the chase even closer. In the final over, young Zaman Khan held off 14 runs to help his team win the match.
Sultans were in a dominant position thanks to Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood.
In the PSL, Rizwan hit his 13th fifty against the reigning champions.
Rizwan and Masood, the Sultans’ opening pair, put their team in a commanding position by putting together a 100-run partnership for the first wicket.
The two batters stayed at the crease for a considerable amount of time and didn’t allow the Qalandar bowlers to overwhelm them.
Hussain Talat, who scored 35 runs in 31 balls for the Qalandars and sent Masood back to the pavilion, provided the team with its breakthrough.
Later, Rizwan was bowled by Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi after scoring 75 runs in 50 balls, bringing the home team’s score to 131-2.
The Qalandars captain and his bowling partner Haris Rauf dragged their team back into the game after the two openers left.
The left-fourth armer’s over was fantastic.
Rauf cleaned up David Miller of South Africa, who is known for his powerful hitting, by bowling a blistering yorker to get rid of the left-handed batsman after he had amassed 25 runs.
