Imad Wasim, the skipper, and Shoaib Malik shone as Karachi recovered.
Khurram, though, rose to the situation and showed skipper Babar that he could rely on him by delivering an outstanding final over to secure victory for his team.
Khurram began the last over with a solid wide yorker that conceded one run, with the team requiring 16 from six balls.
A run was also lost on the second ball, a nearly perfect yorker.
Khurram’s third delivery was a no-ball, but his free hit was a solid one. In order to protect the score and prevent Imad and Ben Cutting from reaching it, the right-arm spinner kept his composure and bowled the following two deliveries in advantageous positions.
Imad, an all-rounder, put in a valiant effort to score an unbroken 80 runs off 47 balls, which included seven boundaries and four maximums.
After Peshawar Zalmi’s bowlers shone as they knocked out the opposition’s top order, Imad and Malik put up a 131-run stand to lead Karachi’s comeback.
Sharjeel Khan was victimised by Wahab Riaz, the former captain of the Yellow Storm, and the home team lost their first wicket.
Later, Jimmy Neesham sent Pakistan’s teenage all-rounder Qasim Akram (7) and Australian hitter Matthew Wade (23) back to the pavilion.
Salman Irshad, meanwhile, took out Haider Ali, who had scored 12 runs in 10 balls, with his first pitch.
Imad Wasim, the captain, and veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik lost four wickets.
Wahab Riaz had the opportunity to dismiss Malik in the 17th over but failed to make the catch off Neesham.
Malik, an all-rounder, reached his half-century but was caught behind by experienced spinner Wahab in the penultimate over, giving Wahab the upper hand.
Ben Cutting was unfortunate to be run out by Wahab’s no-ball on the final ball of his over. The left-arm pacer made an outstanding recovery on the free-hit ball with a wide yorker, forcing the Australian hitter to remain at the crease.
