The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League has thus far been a batters’ tournament, with a number of high-scoring matches. But despite challenging bowling conditions, the bowlers have also displayed some top-notch performances, keeping with the high standards of bowling for which the PSL is renowned.
1. Shaheen Afridi’s Fifer
Shaheen Shah Afridi, the star pacer and captain of the Lahore Qalandars, is renowned for wrecking opening batters. Although he had recovered from a knee injury, there were concerns about his form and readiness for the PSL 8.
The star pacer demonstrated his talent by bowling an outstanding spell against Peshawar Zalmi. Shaheen Afridi took five wickets for 40 runs in a game that was primarily dominated by batters, breaking bats and rattling stumps. Both of the openers—the young Mohammad Haris and the captain Babar Azam—were clean bowled by him. Wahab Riaz and James Neesham were also taken out by him, helping his team win by 40 runs.
2. Ihsanullah’s Fifer
In a recent PSL 8 match, Multan Sultans easily defeated Quetta Gladiators thanks to the outstanding play of their developing pacer, Ihsanullah.
In addition to limiting Quetta Gladiators to a meagre total of 110 runs and taking five significant wickets in the process, the young bowler displayed remarkable skill and dexterity. In addition to Naseem Shah, top batters Jason Roy, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Akmal, and Iftikhar Ahmed were all dismissed by Ihsanullah during his outstanding performance.
The player’s first five-wicket haul in PSL made this an important moment for him and demonstrated his potential as a rising cricket star.
3. Abbas Afridi’s Breakout Spell
In the PSL 8 match against Islamabad United, the young pacer Abbas Afridi of Multan Sultans put on an impressive bowling performance.
He dismissed Rassie van der Dussen, Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Mohammad Wasim among others in his four overs, picking up four significant wickets for just 22 runs. The batters were prevented from settling on the crease by his outstanding spell.
He undoubtedly established himself as a promising talent to keep an eye on in the future after his performance was crucial in aiding his team to a convincing 52-run victory at home.
4. Hasan Ali’s Redemption
The prominent fast bowler from Pakistan, Hasan Ali, has successfully returned in the current PSL eighth season. He made a remarkable comeback in his third game, where he produced a sensational performance against Peshawar Zalmi, after being left out of the team for the first two games.
He took three wickets for 35 runs in that match, stopping Peshawar Zalmi’s momentum and limiting them to a below-average score of 156 runs. Hasan Ali’s spell was a significant turning point in his career because it restored his value following a protracted slump in performance.
5. Mohammad Hasnain’s Effort
Mohammad Hasnain proved to be Quetta Gladiators’ true gladiator in the game against Peshawar Zalmi by standing by himself like a lone warrior while the rest of his team did nothing to assist him.
In his four-over spell, the young pacer only allowed 13 runs while taking three crucial wickets. The rest of the bowling lineup, however, appeared powerless to stop a subpar total of 155. One of the most impressive bowling performances of the PSL 8 in a losing cause belongs to Mohammad Hasnain, whose 3 for 13 stands.
