In order to settle the destiny of PSL matches planned to take place in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has convened an urgent meeting of all PSL franchise owners for Friday at 3 p.m.
The PSL 8 matches, which are slated to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore, will be discussed during the meeting via video conference call. The development has been confirmed by a PCB spokesperson.
The PCB has reportedly been asked for PKR 500 million by the interim Punjab government in order to hold the matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The board has already given the Punjab government PKR 50 million for food expenditures.
The remaining PKR450 million is currently being sought by the provincial government for illumination and security objectives.
If the matches are moved to Karachi, PCB will not be required to pay the aforementioned fees.
To save money, the board is considering moving the Punjab portion of the PSL 8 to Karachi.
According to sources, if the PCB agrees to hold the matches in Punjab, the emergency meeting will decide who would bear these costs.
The PSL 8 action is expected to move from Multan and Karachi to the Gaddafi Stadium and Pindi Cricket Stadium, where the games will be contested from February 26 to March 19. The Qualification, two Eliminators, and the Final will all take place from March 15–19 at the cricket stadium in Pakistan.
This season, Rawalpindi will play host to 11 games, while Lahore will host nine.
