As the Pakistan Super League is set to start, all-rounder Qasim Akram of the Karachi Kings is anxious to demonstrate his abilities and make an impression on the field.
Qasim is focused on putting up his best effort, and he thinks that winning the PSL would improve his prospects of being selected for the national cricket squad.
Qasim is optimistic that the current team of the 2020 champions would have a strong run this time around despite having a difficult season last year.
He points to a potent team mix as a crucial element in their next campaign.
“The PSL is extremely important to me, and I aim to put up strong performances both with the bat and the ball. Qasim is particularly excited about the chance to learn from seasoned players like Imran Tahir and Shoaib Malik, with whom he has previously played, as well as the chance to share a dressing room with Australian wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade.
He thinks Tahir may give him some advice on how to make his spin bowling more interesting.
“Look, horrible times do happen. This season, we have a very strong squad, and, insha’Allah, we’ll make an effort to play for the group and prevail in games,” stated Qasim.
“Our pairing works really well. The team will attempt to play well and for the team this time, and all of the players are extremely good, said the all-around player.”
Qasim is desperate to defeat his old teammate Babar Azam, who now captains the opposition side, in their debut game against Peshawar Zalmi.
