Police Scotland are ‘urgently’ searching for a nine-year-old kid and making door-to-door inquiries because his frightened family hasn’t seen him since yesterday.
Yesterday around 7:05 p.m., Austin McGovern was last seen in Dunbar, East Lothian, close to Rowan Street.
The schoolboy’s disappearance is “completely out of character,” and the police are asking for the public’s help in finding him.
Austin is around four feet four inches tall, has a stocky frame, and has light brown hair. When he was last seen, he was sporting a red t-shirt and black pants.
He was supposed to get home last evening, but when he didn’t, the cops got a call.
While numerous inquiries have been made over the course of the night, Austin has not been located, and concern for him is mounting.
Police have requested members of the public to search any outbuildings or sheds where Austin might have spent yesterday night.
Door-to-door inquiries are still being made, they claimed, and his family and friends are being contacted.
Police will also collect CCTV footage to evaluate for any information that might help them find him.
Inspector Caroline Herbert stated: “We are coordinating with partner agencies and using a variety of specialised resources in our hunt for Austin.
‘Austin is only nine years old and it is totally out of character for him to go missing.
‘His family is, understandably, very worried and just want to know he is safe and well.
‘I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Austin or have any knowledge as to his whereabouts to contact us as a matter of urgency.’
