After reportedly kidnapping a 3-year-old child from her family’s apartment and checking into a nearby hotel with her, a 50-year-old Houston man is now in custody, according to the police.
According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, the young girl, Lincy Guity, was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation but seems to be doing fine.
On Saturday, about eleven o’clock, her parents retired to bed. Around five o’clock on Sunday morning, they awoke to find Guity gone and their apartment door ajar.
Police arrived at the apartment complex right away, and they spoke with a resident who claimed to have seen the suspect with the missing youngster.
Guity and the suspect, Nissan Sentra-driving 50-year-old Holman Hernandez, were the subjects of an Amber Alert. Nearly a mile and a half from the apartment complex, that automobile was sighted at a hotel around 2:00 pm.
Management told police that they had rented a room to the suspect at 7:30, according to Finner on Sunday.
Officers knocked on the suspect’s room’s door, but when they got no response, they pushed their way inside and discovered the suspect and the girl.
Before they got him into custody, he “did put up a little bit of fight,” but no one was hurt, according to Finner.
The suspect and Guity are not thought to be connected, but the police are still looking into the kidnapping. Holman is being held at this time. What allegations would be brought against him were unclear at the time.
