Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, has been declared innocent in the Ashiana Housing case by the NAB. No evidence of corruption or financial gain for the Prime Minister in the housing project, according to a report by the anti-graft body.
According to the report, neither Shehbaz Sharif nor Kamran Kayani, the brother of former army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, misused their positions of authority. Furthermore, it was discovered by the report that Fawad Hasan Fawad, who was at the time the Secretary of Implementation, did not accept any bribes in exchange for awarding the contract.
Following the Rs7 billion references against him and others for having assets beyond their means and money laundering, this is the second significant case in which the NAB has declared Shehbaz Sharif innocent. According to the report, Shehbaz Sharif’s request for acquittal should be decided by the accountability court in accordance with the law.
