Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced a price cut for flights from Islamabad to China on Wednesday.
The national airline has provided a 22% discount for students, while airfares to China have been cut by 10%.
As a result of COVID-19 precautionary measures, the airports in Xian and Beijing were closed to foreign flights for nearly six months. As a result, PIA has now resumed passenger flights between Pakistan and China.
On flights between Pakistan and China, the PIA increased student discounts from 10% to 15% and added a further 7% surcharge reduction, for a total discount of almost 22%.
Instead of 40 kg, students will now be permitted to bring 80 kg of luggage. The price cut will take effect right away for flights from Pakistan for China.
A PIA spokeswoman stated that the airline now runs two flights each week on the Islamabad-Chengdu-Islamabad and Islamabad-Xian-Beijing-Islamabad routes. After completing their study, students who are returning to China or who want to do so can benefit from the discount.
As a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions, several Pakistani students with Chinese university enrollments who were left stranded in Pakistan have begun travelling to China to enrol in offline programmes.
