The Riyadh Airport Authority (RAA) has issued a final warning to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for failing to pay its debts. The authority has given PIA until July 15 to make the 8.2 million riyals in arrears.
The RAA has warned that if PIA doesn’t pay by the due date, it might have an impact on the airline’s winter flight schedule. PIA has also received a warning from Jeddah Airport for failing to pay obligations.
A PIA spokesperson acknowledged that the RAA has sent a dues reminder. He explained that the airline is making the payment and is working to find a quick solution.
The RAA’s warning comes at a time when PIA is already having financial issues. For many years, the airline has struggled to turn a profit. One of PIA’s financial issues is the failure to pay the dues to the airports in Jeddah and Riyadh.
The airline’s flight schedule may be further disrupted if the payment is not made by the due date.
The Pakistani government’s efforts to revive PIA have been hampered by the current circumstance. The government has recently invested billions of rupees in the airline, but so far it hasn’t been able to change its course.
The RAA’s warning serves as a reminder of the difficulties PIA is facing. If the airline is to survive, it must figure out how to increase its financial performance.
