Following the current administration’s decision to impose a 25% General Sales Tax (GST) on luxury goods, a local car manufacturer began passing the cost along to customers, which will subsequently reduce their purchasing power. Following the price increase by Kia Lucky Motors, Peugeot Pakistan decided to follow suit and raise the price of the Peugeot 2008. And as predicted, the prices of other nearby car assemblers will all be rising gradually over the next couple of days.
Today, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) confirmed this new tax by issuing a new sales tax notification under SRO 297(1)/2023. But this tax application also applies to some vehicles that weren’t 1400cc cars. The important thing to notice was that all locally produced or assembled SUVs and CUVs, even those with engine displacement lower than 1400cc, were included in this tax slab, which is why we were anticipating a new price increase. And today, as predicted, prices for the Peugeot 2008 increased.

Here are the new prices of both variants.
- The new price of Peugeot 2008 Active variant is Rs. 6,840,000 compared to Rs. 6,450,000. Means, it has observed a hike of Rs. 390,000.
- Meanwhile, the Peugeot 2008 Allure variant will now cost Rs. 7,580,000 instead of Rs. 7,150,000. This variant observed an increase of Rs. 430,000.
